Our Container is Here and It’s Level!
That’s right the storage container arrived yesterday. Today Mark, Steve (mostly Mark and Steve), and I leveled it out. Steve brought a railroad jack (for lifting trains) that made the job way easier than it would have been. A mere 3 hours of work and it’s done.

Congratulations to the New Shihans!
More congratulations are in order! Hombu Dojo (Aikido World Headquarters) notified the California Aikido Association that a few instructors were awarded Shihan (Master Instructor) status:
Michael Friedl Sensei, Cyndy Hayashi Sensei, Jack Wada Sensei, and Frank McGouirk Sensei.

Dojo Schedule This Week
Since Aiki Summer Retreat is this coming week, we won’t be having any aikido classes at the dojo from June 21 through June 28. Eric Kenyon will continue to teach his strength and conditioning classes. We’ll begin our regular schedule again on June 29.
I’ll see you at the Retreat or when we get back.

How to Say Aikido’Ka
Since we opened the dojo almost 7 years ago, I’ve heard quite the array of pronunciations for our dojo name — Aikido’Ka.
