Gabriel, Laszlo and I went to a seminar on Saturday at Aikido of Reno. The seminar was taught by Mary Heiny Sensei and Vince Salvatore Sensei (Chief Instructor at Aikido of Reno). It was a different kind of seminar. The main theme was that different aikido lineages may approach techniques somewhat differently while applying the same principles. Mary Sensei would demonstrate a technique, shomen uchi ikkyo, for instance, from the Shingu perspective. Then Vince Sensei would do the same from the Iwama perspective. We would practice both ways and experience how the approach may be different, but the point was the same.
All in all, it was quite an interesting, and certainly, very worthwhile experience. We all had a very good time.
