Alex and I’ve arrived at the Aiki Retreat at Menlo College in Atherton. The weather is beautiful and everyone is arriving ready to train. It wasn’t long before I started meeting old friends.
Soon after Alex and I arrived, Jane got here. As always, Jane is thrilled to be with friends and ready to train in aikido.
I soon encountered an aikido friend — Jack Wada Sensei. Wada Sensei is an extremely nice fellow and extraordinary aikidoist. He is the chief instructor at Aikido of San Jose.
And then I encountered three of the main instructors for the week — Frank Doran Shihan, Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan and Mary Heiny Sensei.
We had our first class this evening. It was an hour long and shared by Doran Shihan and Robert Nadeau Shihan. It was tremendous fun.
